Pulse

Individual Work, 2025

Pulse is a three-panel video installation capturing the gestures, rhythms, and connections between three generations through hand movements and skin textures. The work explores cultural continuity, with a child instinctively mimicking a traditional tapping gesture rooted in a 500-year-old Qing Dynasty myth. This tapping, originally a silent expression of gratitude, becomes a metaphor for intergenerational bonds and the transmission of traditions. Ambient sounds and knocking rhythms enhance the immersive experience, while the layered composition reflects the complexity of time and heritage. The piece invites viewers to consider how cultural practices evolve yet remain deeply embedded in our daily lives.
